Once a runner turns 17, they may, if they want to, run in the senior race. Here are some considerations.
Scoring in the U20 race is separate to scoring in the Senior race. No points or positions are carried across, so if you chop and change your overall position will be low in each event. Don't forget that all matches count in the senior standings (you can miss one in the U20s).
There is no 'U20' category in the senior races, but there is an Under 23 Category. If you are an U20 running in a senior race, make sure that you are registered as an U23.
University runners can score for both club and institution in the senior race, but only one or the other in the U20 race. If you are a member of both an affiliated club and university and run in the U20 race, please ensure you are registered for the correct body.
